Commissioned by The National Gallery during its bicentenary year, The People Room (Room 1 of NG Stories) was designed in collaboration with experience designers The Workers.

As installation designers, DPM translated the interactive concept into a spatial experience. A composition of large and small digital screens, set within bespoke housings, capture visitors silhouettes alongside images of the Gallery’s conservators, curators, framers, and other key figures from its two hundred year history.

The result is an immersive, people-led environment that positions every visitor as part of the Gallery’s story, enriched by Nick Ryan’s evocative soundscapes.
