–Tate Draw
2022
Tate Draw is a hugely popular, permanent installation at Tate Modern and Tate Britain where visitors draw on digital sketch pads and have their creations immediately projected onto a gallery wall.
The project was led by creative technology studio The Workers. DPM were responsible for the spatial and furniture design.
The furniture needed to stand up to the impact of daily usage by hundreds of visitors, successfully integrate the AV hardware and create a comfortable ergonomic drawing position.
At Tate Modern the angled tables were supported by steel beams referencing the construction of the Turbine Hall. The drum-shaped room at Tate Britain led to a faceted table, this was combined with a curved oak bench for spectator seating. Both sites use a linoleum worktop that is soft to the touch and hardwearing.
A bespoke housing was designed for the stylus pen to increase its durability, improve grip for smaller users and tether it to the furniture safely.
